Theirworld’s work featured in the Swedish Postcode Foundation Annual Report

We are delighted that our project in Lebanon is one of those featured in the Swedish Postcode Foundation’s Annual Report for 2015.

Each year The Swedish Postcode Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations delivering a variety of projects  which are focused on finding solutions to some of the big challenges being faced by people around the world. Theirworld’s ongoing project to provide education for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon, has been one such project lucky enough to receive the generous support of the Foundation.

The war in Syria is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges facing the world today, with neighbouring countries such as Lebanon, shouldering most of the weight of the refugee crisis.

Whilst the public education system in Lebanon is doing what it can to accommodate the growing number of refugee children, the system is overwhelmed and support is needed to develop strategies that will ensure that all refugee children in Lebanon are able to go to school. The support received from The Swedish Postcode Foundation has aided Theirworld’s efforts in this area; helping us develop and test a double-shift school system across Lebanon, allowing thousands more Syrian children to continue their education.

In the midst of conflict and devastation, the chance to go back to school offers children a place of safety and normality, and provides them with hope for a brighter future. The support of partners such as The Swedish Postcode Foundation will allow Theirworld to continue advocating for the rights of refugee children and working to ensure that they receive this opportunity for a brighter future.
